Are you ready to have your breath taken away? Because we guarantee you that it will happen more than once in Norway! From vibrant cities to quiet stunning nature, Norway offers a wide range of exciting experiences that you will never forget. On this land where Mother Nature reigns and only 5,5 million inhabitants live, Norwegians have learnt how to live with the elements but also to create a modern society where people feel safe and happy.
From stunning landscapes to amazing wildlife, nature always exceeds all expectations in Norway. High mountains along deep fjords, whales dancing in the water, sea eagles flying over boats, small islands spread along the coast, green lights dancing in the sky… the list of reasons why Norwegians love the outdoor is long! Nature has such an important place in the culture that it is in the constitution. The Nature Diversity Act applies to all territories and has the purpose of protecting the biological, geological and landscapes diversity in order to provide a basis for human activity, health and wellbeing, now and in the future. It entitles you to enjoy the outdoor and hike or camp anywhere in Norway as long as you respect the nature and its inhabitants. From summer to winter, before or after work, during the weekend… Anytime is a good time for Norwegians to do outdoor activities and you will realize that very quickly during your visit. As we say here: Ut på tur, aldri sur (out on a trip, never angry).
We at DMC Nordic love this nature and wish that everyone can enjoy it for as long as possible… we are therefore committed to sustainability and we do everything to respect our beautiful planet when designing our programs. We guarantee you the best of the highlights of this stunning nature but also the hidden gems where the only people you meet are the happy locals!
The country is on the move and growing constantly. One of the best examples is the capital Oslo! It has been one of Europe’s fastest growing city for the last few years and the changes are spectacular! If you visited the city 10 years ago, we guarantee you that you would barely recognize it now. The waterfront has been entirely transformed from industrial docks to modern and lively neighborhood, with new museums, culture points as well as restaurants and hotels. And it is not finished! Coming in the next years and among other planned venues, the new Munch Museum and National Museum are two of the most longed for newbuilds. In North Norway, the world’s first energy positive hotel is planned to open soon, and we couldn’t be more excited!
All over Norway changes are happening, but the traditions and history are still kept intact. The different Viking villages and
museums offer you a full immersion in how life was at the time and how they influenced today’s society. In their personal lives too, Norwegians are attached to their traditions and you will experience that in their houses, food and way of life. The National Day on the 17th of May is a great way to experience it. Everyone dresses in their bunad, the traditional costume, different for each region and usually inherited from older generation.
At DMC Nordic, we give you an insider view in your program with us so you experience and enjoy the most out of Norway: its wonderful Nature, traditions, people and newest places!
Norwegians are always ranked among the happiest people in the world and there are many reasons why. Standard of life and incomes are pretty high, inequalities and criminality are low, good welfare system that takes care of the people, level of trust is high… it is a country where people feel safe and free.
But one of the main reasons is that Norwegians learn how to enjoy life and release stress! The word Kos means to enjoy or to have a good time and it is a whole concept here. The recipe to a koselig (enjoyable, cosy) environment is made of warmth, kindness, laughter and being together… And it can be many different things: a gathering with friends around a candle or holding hands whilst standing in the middle of nature watching the northern lights. It can also be simple things such as having a cup of coffee and a freshly baked cinnamon bun. Many Norwegians go on “cabin trips” in the mountain during the weekend where they enjoy being together around a fireplace or go skiing, hiking… It is their way of enjoying life, nature and get away from a stressful daily life in the city.
By now, it’s no wonder that Norway can mesmerize even the most skeptical visitor with its abundance of natural beauty and cultural richness. In such a land of plenty, your clear advantages of working with the local experts of DMC Nordic are that you’ll be sure to find those hidden gems that aren’t always on the obvious tourist track, but that certainly make out the best experiences.
